Another Barrio
"Another Barrio" follows housing inspector Bob Morales as he examines the odd circumstances surrounding a tragic fire, as though lifted straight from today's headlines reporting fires, evictions, and public protests. Morales is confronted with corruption at City Hall and the intriguing Sofia Nido, a beautiful flame from his past as he investigates a residential hotel in San Francisco's Latino Mission District. When Morales investigates the incident, he is forced to confront his own issues and gets sucked into the murky underbelly of corruption, bribery, and murder. Featuring a story by San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia, the video explores the gentrification and displacement of low-income areas in a way that is rarely seen on film.
